The Rock al Parque festival, which means Festival In The Park, is an amazing event that comes to Bogota city every summer. The Knysna Oyster Festival was started in 1983 in Western Cape, South Africa. The initiator was the late Dick Ginsberg, a successful local businessman. The inaugural ‘Knysna Winter Festival’ organized by the Knysna Publicity Committee drew huge audiences and participants who made the marathon, golf, rugby, and bowls tournament an instant success.
During the 1984 Knysna Oyster Festival, the Navy got involved in the organization process. The Chief of the Navy visited Knysna accompanied by a navy minesweeper and several crew members. Again in 1988, a conferment was made on the army during the Freedom of Entry event that marked the historic participation of the municipal authorities in Knysna. The aim of the festival remains to attract as many people to the sporting competitions during the winter period when many people are characteristically passive.
 Oyster eating competition The 1985 event saw the inclusion of Argus cycling tours into the Knysna Oyser festival. The carnivals are held in different seasons across the Caribbean. Some Islands prefer to hold the Carnival after the Ash Wednesday whereas other Islands prefer to hold it after Easter. A few Islands have the carnival during the summer season. However, for the people it hardly matters as to which season the carnival is held in, because they only like to enjoy and party hard during the carnival period. The main idea across the Caribbean islands is to have great fun during the carnival period.
 The Caribbean Islands Carnival The actual preparation process for the Carnival starts well in advance. At some places, the planning for next year’s carnival starts soon after that year’s carnival is over. For others the planning usually starts 6 months before the carnival period. The first step is to select the theme based on the culture of that Caribbean Island and then plan the carnival costumes, float, and music according to this theme.
