This game is so much fun! I purchased it years ago, and raced through it! I am 23 years old, and still like to pick it up once in a while – it challenges me to this day. The cards you are given look easy, but as you work your way through the deck you realize it’s not as easy as you think. People of any age group will find it fun, but addictive. As you play, you learn to visualize things in a new way, which is useful in real life. The back of the cards have hints in case you get stuck – one hint shows where a few pieces go; the other hint shows the rest. You can use whichever hint you feel you need more. All around, this is a fun game that doesn’t take long to learn and can be enjoyed by everyone!

Being a school grade teacher, I am often looking for games that will challenge the mind. My children and I found this game both challenging and fun. It does cause younger children a bit of frustration, but they don’t want to give up. They just keep trying harder!

This game is uniquely designed, and out of the ThinkFun deduction solitaire games, the least sequential. That, plus its visual scheme that encourages youngsters to think in overlaid patterns, makes it excellent for visual-spatial reasoning development.

Typical of the Thinkfun solitaire games, the puzzles are arranged in stages, from easiest to most difficult (four stages for Clever Castle). However, the game only begins to really test deductive skills a few puzzles into the second hardest level, named “Hard”. This means that the truly fun challenges are limited to less than twenty total. In fact, the only real drawback I can find in the game is the limited number of levels. It would be nice if ThinkFun would at least offer extra levels, either for free on the web or as a paid add-on.

I would not be afraid to get this game for a child in the 3-4 year old range. They would at least be able to do some of the puzzles, and could grow into the harder ones over time. My 4-year-old was able to finish all 40 levels, though not at one sitting.

I bought this game for an older child, but my 4 yr old is figuring it out and she likes it a lot. she can only do the easiest puzzles now, but there are so many different ones that get progressively harder, I’m sure she will enjoy this game for several years. Very good problem-solving toy. Great quality, as is every Thinkfun game I’ve seen.

I bought this as a party favor for my daughter’s 5th year-old birthday. She loves tangrams and this is just an extension. Her friends have also enjoyed this and some parents have mentioned that their children cannot put this down. It is ideally suited for those who love to solve puzzles and have an affinity for spatial relationships.

This game, along with the other ThinkFun games (Brick by Brick, Square by Square, etc.) are WONDERFUL. They include challenging puzzles for kids and adults alike, and are great brain-building tools. The games are all made from a very durable hard plastic, many of which come with a slide out tray underneath to store the “puzzle” cards in. The puzzles include hints and solutions on the opposing side in case you get stuck. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who likes a challenge, as well as to those parents who are looking for a truly “educational” game for their child.

We bought this game on a whim, not knowing how it will go with our 4 and 6 year olds. Turned out they both love it–they pull it out on their own and work on problems for a long time (an hour at least). In the process, I discovered that my 4 year old, who usually is not very patient with time-consuming problems, can sit through several cards and has a talent solving problems of this kind. I highly recommend it!

My daughter (12) and I like to find new ‘car’ games. We keep a couple games in the car so when we go out to eat or end up some place where we have to wait, we have something to do. This game is the perfect size and is fun because the two of us can work on it together. It isn’t too hard for the kid and just challenging enough to keep my brain occupied.

It is also a good one to play for a while and then put away for a couple months. That way it seems fresh.

Of course I would always like MORE puzzle cards to figure out, but for the price (and free shipping when this was written) – it is great! Cheaper than the store where we first saw it.

I think the puzzles are way too easy, and there are no differing levels. (Puzzle #60 is no harder to solve than puzzle #1). My kids (ages 7 and 4) are challenged by the puzzles, though (one child uses the hints given, the other does not). It does not hold their attention long term, unless we are waiting or on a road trip. Then they spend more time doing the puzzles, and they enjoy having something interesting to do.

Here we have another winner from the folks at ThinkFun. My 9 year old received this toy yesterday; I have played it a bit and found it quite challenging even at the “advanced” level (it goes up higher to “expert”). The premise of the game is straightforward. You have 9 chocolates in three colors and three shapes; you are given clues as to how to place them in the “chocolate box”. Not as easy as one might think! There is a spiral notebook of sets of clues with various difficulty levels. My 9 year old will do ok with the “beginner” and “intermediate” levels; the “advanced” level will challenge her but each card sort of guides the user’s thinking to the next step. “Expert” will be hard for my 9 year old. A nice feature for parents/users is that this is a one person game. Or at least it’s intended to be. There’s no reason why two people couldn’t work through a puzzle together; it would be a great way to use teamwork and share the logical thought process. But it’s nice to have a game for kids that doesn’t require a partner since a friend is not always around and a parent is not always available to play. But this is not just a kid’s game. It should provide quite a bit of enjoyment to adults. A great way to keep the mind sharp! Like other ThinkFun games, all the pieces fit nicely in a cloth bag; so nice not to have yet another bulky broken box on the toyshelf.

I’m a bit outside the suggested age range (at 43) but I really enjoyed this delightful puzzle. My kids have enjoyed other ThinkFun products, especially Rush Hour, River Crossing, and Tip Over, but this one I bought for me. It is almost like a 3-dimensional logic puzzle, in which placements are deduced using clues and elimination. It would make a fun coffee table accent as well. And best of all, no calories!
