Blue Hat Fun 2 Save Kids Electronic ATM Bank Reviews

We wanted to get this type of bank to teach our 8-yo that the ATM wasn’t a magic box we could get endless cash out of. It has taught him the lessons that no amount of words could.
He now understands that the amount you put in is the amount you can take out. And he understands the power of savings — before he would spend his allowance on candy & Pokemon cards; now he would rather watch his balance go up, and thought very carefully before he purchased a game he’d been wanting.
He also loves to impress his friends by putting in his ATM card and entering his secret PIN.
We haven’t had any real problems with our bank. The dollar feeder works fine. The coin counter doesn’t recognize pennies and sometimes other coins, but you can deposit coins without using the counter. It’s true you have to type in the amount of deposit before you make a deposit, but that’s no different from a regular ATM.
Highly recommended as an inexpensive toy that also helps a child learn how ATM’s really work.

I bought two of these for my daughters for Christmas, but unfortunately they will be going back to the store tomorrow. The idea is great and we were all looking forward to a fun way for our girls to save their money – but we found this item to be dysfunctional and not worth even the sale price we paid (.00 at Macy’s). A few notes:
– The bill feeder kept sticking and continued to churn even after the bill was fed. We thought maybe it jammed after a few bills, but even after emptying it, the feeder continued to run.
– Each ‘deposit’ has to be manually entered, which I guess should be expected given this is really just a ‘toy’.
– The coin slot has some recognition capability, but we noticed it didn’t correctly recognize pennies.
My girls tried the toys for about 1/2 an hour and really liked the idea of their own ‘ATM’ machine, but given the issues with functionality we decided to face the return lines tomorrow.

Electronic Carabiner Keychain Game Simon Reviews

I bought this little gadget over a month ago, but waited on opening it in hopes that someone would compare it to the original. Alas, no one dared to review it on Amazon.com (or anywhere else, for that matter), so I decided to open it. The packaging doesn’t allow for consumer demonstration, so there was no way of telling if I’d like it unless I opened it.
Was the risk worth it? Absolutely!
This is as great a miniature of Simon as one can get. If you’re like me and had the original Simon, it was hard to get used to the newer versions–you know, the ones where the sounds were the same, and the colors weren’t as bold.
My original Simon had the red and green lights malfunctioning, but the sounds were all there, so when either light wasn’t working I could still tell which button it was due to the distinct sound (which was also designed to help memory). After a while, though, it did get frustrating not seeing the lights, and the buttons became stiff, so when I saw this little key-chain I thought I’d give it a whirl.
It’s designed to look just like the original; heck, even the middle sticker has the exact same button layout! But it’s just a sticker. There are no options for levels or games on this carabiner version, but that’s reasonable considering it’s so small. What really impressed me was that the sounds were almost like the original. As I stated previously, the newer versions of Simon all had the same, or else dull, sounds, but this carabiner, despite the seemingly under-par sound chip, retains the original and distinguished sounds from the ’80s.
Since there are no level modes in this, it seems that the makers gave it a level 2 or 3 as the main sequence, so you still get enough lights to drive you mad.
The only main gripe I have is that there’s no “on, off” option. You have to push the middle button to turn it on, but there’s no way of preventing it from accidentally turning on if the middle button gets unintentionally pushed, say, in a backpack or something.
Nevertheless, it’s still a great and nostalgic deal for . I’m sure you won’t be disappointed in this travel-sized Simon!
UPDATE 7/21/10:
My family and I recently took a camping trip to Michigan from Chicago. We traveled by car, and I took this Simon with me in my backpack. We had no unusual bumps on the road, so it was pretty much smooth sailin–er, driving.
When we arrived at our destination, we had some downtime so I gave this toy a whirl. To my dismay, I found that the red and yellow buttons weren’t working properly. I had to either push them twice or push ‘em hard for them to register.
I’m not sure if that’s the case for all the carabiner versions, or just mine; but since I don’t see myself spending another to test different one, I’m afraid I have to lower my score on durability from 4 to 2 stars, and my overall score from 5 to 4.
I really hope this is just a specific case to mine, and not to all the ones out there. If anyone else is experiencing the same issues (or not), please let me know.

Catch Phrase Electronic Carabiner Reviews

I agree with the other reviews! No only does it start repeating after 10 words or so, my kids had no idea who the people were! Bob Barker? James Garner? We had more fun laughing at the game than playing it.

While I really didn’t expect this to have as many words as the full version, I was surprised that it started repeating itself regularly after about 5 minutes. My kids still got a laugh out of it and played for about 30 minutes right after we opened the package, but I don’t think anyone has played since and that was a month ago. It’s built well enough, but not worth the money.

The Learning Journey Pig E Bank Pink Edition with LCD Electronic Learning Toy Reviews

I bought this for my 9 year old because she wanted to be able to see how much money she was saving. Let me start by explaining how this product works… It has a narrow slot that will adjust size based on what coin you put in and the bank tells you what coin it is and how much it is worth. The display will then give you a running total of how much is in the bank. I was disappointed when we started putting money in the slot because #1 it is hard to get the coins in the slot and #2 the bank is constantly misreading the coin. We put in a quarter and it said it was a nickel, put in a penny and it said it was a dime. Completely defeats the purpose of why I bought it but my daughter thinks it is cute.

The pig is cute, is pretty good at deciding what change my daughter puts in (confuses pennies and dimes on occasion), but you can manually adjust the balance if needed and it is easy to get the coins out and comes with a replacement “stopper” in case one gets lost.
However, you should know that this thing talks in an ultra-annoying voice that you turn off or down. It is loud and frequent. Because my daughter loved it I eventually went to work with a screwdriver and muted the pig. Seems to me you should have an on/off switch for the voice of any toy.

Handheld Electronic Gin Rummy Game Reviews

i am 31 I can’t figure it out, none of my friends or family members could either. this game isn’t very good.. don’t waste your money.. your choice really

I bought this Gin Rummy game to replace one from Radio Shack that I wore out, and they don’t make anymore. This game has only a few different hands, and repeats them over and over. It does not take long to memorize them and know exactly what the score will be and who will win each hand. Also, it sometimes will not let you win when you have a winning hand. For example, in one hand I had 4 10′s and 8,9,J,Q&K OF the same suit. It would not allow the 10 of that suit to be played in the straight. Itstead, it kept it with the other 3 10′s to make a set of 4. Therefore, the 8 & 9 were not playable when it should have been. Also, I would prefer to keep the sound off all them time, but this game requires you to turn the sound off each time a new game begins.
