Think Fun Math Dice Reviews

Review by Grandma G:

ThinkFun Math Dice helped my grand daughters, ages 8 & 10, improve their math test scores so much within 1 week that the eldest’s teacher called to see what we were doing to help her! Flash cards and drills were so boring, the girls acted as though they were being tortured. They really enjoy this game I love the fact that it will grow with them. Right now, they can add, subtract, and multiply so this is all we use, but we will add other math skills as they are acquired, keeping the game fresh and challenging for years to come! Excellent investment!

Review by T. Toledo:

I’ve played this game with my little brother, who hates math by the way, but actually enjoys this game. I don’t know if it will ever turn his opinion of math around, but it is definitely improving his skills. Of course anyone who already enjoys math will get a kick out of this game too.

Think fun Visual Brainstorms

One hundred of the world’s best brainteaser puzzle cards each guaranteed to challenge, entertain, captivate, amuse and enlighten you!Children who love word games, logic puzzles, secret codes, mazes, and math mysteries will stretch their mental muscles with Visual Brain Storms. This set of 100 cards, each of which includes a humorous, full-color drawing, promises “the world’s best brainteaser questions.” The characters in the questions often have funny names (Professor Pith Bugby pops up often) or faces or dilemmas to solve. The answers and explanations are on the back of each card, along with a related bonus question. Many of the puzzles involve math concepts, spatial reasoning, logic, or sequential thinking, but some can be solved with plain common sense. Here’s a sample: “Frank and Helen’s annual singles elimination tennis tournament has drawn 18 players this year. How many matches must be played before there is a winner for the year?” Answer: “Every match will produce one loser, and every person other than the winner will lose once and only once. Eighteen players makes 17 losers; therefore it will take 17 matches to have a tournament winner.” Visual Brain Storms is a humorous, painless way to improve those higher-order thinking skills. Visual Brain Storms: The Smart Thinking Game is for one or more players. –Marcie Bovetz

Think fun Visual Brainstorms Reviews

Binary Arts is a leader in family and thinking games and Visual Brain Storm is the perfect example. Binary Arts gives you a game that can be played with one person or teams and the fun and entertainment is just the beginning. The easy directions, printed on the box, have you playing in less than five minutes. The storage of the game is a breeze since the only parts are the game cards themselves. The hours of enjoyment and fun for the whole family is what makes this game a sure fire winner. The game calls for ages 11 and up and some the cards may be a little too hard for the younger crowd. In the solitaire version you play each card and score yourself. In the head to head you dived up into teams and you can put a time limit on each question. Finally there is a team version which call for you to place the card where everyone can see it, first team that thinks they know answer calls out finished and the other teams have 1 minute left to play. So if you’re looking for a great party game Binary Arts may just have the answer.

I bought this toy for my 5 year old 2 years ago, when I started homeschooling and she is now doing the intermediate and advanced levels (which still challenge me). She always wants to play rush hour before starting her math lessons to put herself in a “mathematical mind frame” (her words). Every child who comes to our house & plays this game is hooked and asks to play next time. I am a teacher by profession and this is a very unintimidating logic & reasoning game (for all ages)- I would highly recommend! I have just ordered 5 more to give as x-mas gifts this year.

ThinkFun Chocolate Fix Reviews

Review by third time mom:

Here we have another winner from the folks at ThinkFun. My 9 year old received this toy yesterday; I have played it a bit and found it quite challenging even at the “advanced” level (it goes up higher to “expert”). The premise of the game is straightforward. You have 9 chocolates in three colors and three shapes; you are given clues as to how to place them in the “chocolate box”. Not as easy as one might think! There is a spiral notebook of sets of clues with various difficulty levels. My 9 year old will do ok with the “beginner” and “intermediate” levels; the “advanced” level will challenge her but each card sort of guides the user’s thinking to the next step. “Expert” will be hard for my 9 year old. A nice feature for parents/users is that this is a one person game. Or at least it’s intended to be. There’s no reason why two people couldn’t work through a puzzle together; it would be a great way to use teamwork and share the logical thought process. But it’s nice to have a game for kids that doesn’t require a partner since a friend is not always around and a parent is not always available to play. But this is not just a kid’s game. It should provide quite a bit of enjoyment to adults. A great way to keep the mind sharp! Like other ThinkFun games, all the pieces fit nicely in a cloth bag; so nice not to have yet another bulky broken box on the toyshelf.

Review by Susan Merritt:

I’m a bit outside the suggested age range (at 43) but I really enjoyed this delightful puzzle. My kids have enjoyed other ThinkFun products, especially Rush Hour, River Crossing, and Tip Over, but this one I bought for me. It is almost like a 3-dimensional logic puzzle, in which placements are deduced using clues and elimination. It would make a fun coffee table accent as well. And best of all, no calories!

ThinkFun Rush Hour

Rush Hour is the mind-challenging game of pure bumper-to-bumper fun! Players set up the cars and trucks on a game grid to match one of forty color-coded challenge cards, and then try to maneuver the red car to escape the gridlock. Four levels of play range from beginner to expert. Measures 9″W x 8″H x 2.5″D.Honk! Honk! It’s gridlock and the little red car can’t move. The player is a traffic cop in the Rush Hour Traffic Jam Puzzle where the objective is to get the red car off the road. To play, pick one of 40 challenge cards; solutions are printed on the back of each card. Then set up the cars and buses in a specified pattern on the 6-inch-square road grid. Move the vehicles one by one (obey those traffic laws!) until the red car can escape the traffic jam. There are four levels of difficulty. Kids can alternate turns with another player or just “play in traffic” alone. The game from Binary Arts received a national award from Mensa and is used in elementary school math classes. The design includes clear instructions printed on the sturdy box, which can be used both as a playing tray and for storage. The game cards stow away in a drawer in the road grid. This is a 1999 Parents’ Choice recommended toy. –Marcie Bovetz

ThinkFun Rush Hour Reviews

Review by Adam E. Silbestein:

The concept is so simple it’s ingenious. Drive your car in a straight line. But if you’ve ever been in NY during rush hour, you know that’s not always easy. I am of course referring to gridlock, that bane of city traffic, when no cars can move. Well in Rush Hour, you get to move around all the cars and trucks to clear a path for yourself. The game comes with a set of cards (easily stored in the plastic tray) that show where to set up the cars. That takes a minute, but some of the puzzles take a long time to solve. They range from very easy to very hard. And Binary Arts sells extra card sets so the fun never ends! This game is sure to make a lot of kids into civil engineers. As for durability, you could probably throw this game out the window while driving on the highway, and it would be ok. Just better hope it’s not rush hour!

My two children ages 8 and 7 love this, as do my husband and I. It’s great in building thinking skills. The challenging cards are enough to stump the adults, yet the beginner cards are a great starting point for the kids. A great game to take places where you have to sit and wait for awhile. I highly recommend it!

ThinkFun Rush Hour Jr. Reviews

Review by :

i love rush hour junior even though i am 12. Normallly when you get a junior game it is sort of a waste of money because it is nothing like the original game but rush hour junior is exactly what it should be a junior game of rush hour. i would definetly reccomend this for younger kids. i even had a blast playing this game!

Review by Y. Leventhal:

We bought this game on a whim, not knowing how it will go with our 4 and 6 year olds. Turned out they both love it–they pull it out on their own and work on problems for a long time (an hour at least). In the process, I discovered that my 4 year old, who usually is not very patient with time-consuming problems, can sit through several cards and has a talent solving problems of this kind. I highly recommend it!
